CHELTENHAM & GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Patios Cheltenham
Porcelain, Indian sandstone, natural stone and block-paved patios, laid on a properly prepared base by a family-run team that's been working across Cheltenham for 21 years.
TRUSTED CHELTENHAM PATIO INSTALLERS
What's under your patio matters more than what's on top.
Laid properly the first time.
Most patio problems aren't about the slabs. They're about what's underneath. A patio laid straight onto sand, or bedded on five blobs of mortar instead of a full bed, will move, sink at the corners and let water sit in the joints. We've spent 21 years putting right other people's shortcuts, and we don't take them.
Every patio we lay goes on a compacted sub-base, on a full mortar bed, with the falls set to run water away from the house — and set low enough below your damp proof course to keep it that way. It's slower. It's the reason ours don't lift.
Whether you want a spot for a table and chairs, a raised terrace off the back door, or the whole garden rebuilt, you'll get honest advice, a clear written quote and a 5-year workmanship guarantee.

A Recent patio, Start To Finish
Ben was away for this one, so Kayden ran it with the team from start to finish. Same standard, same finish — that's the point of having a team you've trained yourself.
Patio Materials We Lay in Cheltenham
Porcelain Paving
Dense, near-zero porosity and the lowest maintenance of anything we lay. Porcelain won't stain from spilled wine or barbecue fat, doesn't need sealing, and resists the green film that builds up on damp north-facing patios. It's the surface most Cheltenham customers ask for now, particularly alongside modern extensions and bifold doors. It does demand more skill to lay — porcelain needs a slurry primer on the back of every slab, and it can't be cut with a standard disc.
Indian Sandstone
The classic riven patio, and still the best value natural stone for the money. The tonal variation suits older Cheltenham properties and Cotswold stone in a way porcelain can't match. It's more porous, so it'll weather and mellow — some people want exactly that, others prefer it sealed to hold the colour. We'll show you both and let you decide.
Resin
A smooth, seamless finish with no joints for weeds to push through. Water drains straight through it, so no puddles, and it comes in a wide range of stone blends to suit the house. A good choice where the patio meets a resin driveway, or for a clean, modern look with almost no upkeep. As a Vuba Surfaces ambassador, we install resin that comes with a 25-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
Block Paving
Where a patio flows into a driveway or path, block paving keeps the two reading as one scheme. Granite setts work well as borders, edging and circle features, and take heavy traffic without moving.
If you've seen a material you like and it's not listed here, ask. As approved installers for Marshalls, Bradstone, Tobermore and Vuba, we can source most things — and we'll tell you honestly how it'll perform in a Gloucestershire winter.
What Does A Patio Cost
In Cheltenham?
We'd rather give you a straight answer than make you ring up to find out.Patio cost comes down to four things: the area, the material, how much excavation and muck-away is involved, and whether there's anything structural — steps, retaining walls, a change of level.
As a rough guide, Indian sandstone is the most cost-effective option, limestone and block paving sit in the middle, and porcelain is at the higher end.
What we won't do is quote a price over the phone without seeing the garden. Access, levels and what's already down make too much difference.
What To Expect — Our Process
We have designed a seamless, transparent four-step workflow to guide your project from initial consultation to immaculate completion.
1
Free quote
We come out, measure up, look at the levels and access, and talk through materials. You get a clear written quote with no obligation and no pressure.
2
Excavation and base
We dig out to the right depth, remove the spoil, and lay and compact a sub-base. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the patio lasts.
3
Laying
Every slab goes down on a full mortar bed, to a set fall of roughly 1:80 running away from the house, and at least 150mm below your damp proof course. Porcelain gets primed. Joints are filled with a proper jointing compound, not brushed-in sand.
4
Completion
A wash down, a walk round with you, and honest aftercare advice — no expensive products, no complicated routine. Backed by our 5-year workmanship guarantee.

Patios Across Cheltenham & Gloucestershire
We lay patios throughout Cheltenham and the surrounding area. The Regency and Victorian properties around Lansdown, Tivoli and Pittville often need a patio that sits comfortably against Cotswold stone and existing period detail — sandstone and riven natural stone tend to suit those better than porcelain. The newer housing around Leckhampton, Up Hatherley and Benhall usually calls for something cleaner, and that's where porcelain and large-format limestone come into their own.
We also work regularly in Bishops Cleeve, Prestbury, Charlton Kings, Winchcombe, Tewkesbury and out towards Gloucester. If you're not sure whether we reach you, just ask.
